            Khanom Man Sampalang or Khaonom Man Tang can be bought in any market place in the north. It is made from ground cassava and sugar and salt. (Taksana Anakhphruet, personal communication, July 5, 2007; Rattana Phromphichai,1999, p.824)
 
Ingredients
1. Ground Cassava500 Gm.
2. Sugar400 Gm.
3. Grated Coconut1 Cup
4. Salt1/2 Tsp.
5. Water algae1 Cup

1. Grind the cassava and discard the big pieces.
2. Mix in the sugar and salt and water.
3. Blend until the sugar has dissolved completely.
4. Pour batter into a pan and level off the top.
5. Steam on a medium fire for 45 minutes.
6. Allow to cool and cut into square shaped pieces.
7. Sprinkle with coconut.
 
Tips
The cassava can be ground fresh or steamed before mixing into the other ingredients.
