            Sa pli or Sa pi is a spicy vegetable salad dish made in the same was as sa yot makham or sa makhuea pro in which the chili mixture is stir fried to release the nice aroma before mixing in the vegetables. Some people add roasted sesame seed into the chili mixture. Some top it with khaep mu. Some roast the shallots, garlic and shrimp paste first. (Siwan Chamrat, personal communication, June 14, 2007)

3. Sliced Shallots1 Tbsp.
4. Chopped Garlic1 Tbsp.
5. Vegetable oil2 Tbsp.

1. Remove the hard part of the banana flowers and thinly slice the tender part. Leave to soak in salt water
2. Pound together the ingredients for chili paste to a fine paste.
3. Brown the garlic and stir fry with the chili paste.
4. Add pork and fry further to cook. Let cool.
5. Drain off the water from the banana flowers and mix into the fried mixture.
6. Add shallots and coriander and onion. Stir just to mix.
 
Tips
Wait until the mixture is cool before mixing in the banana flowers to retain the nice color
Tips
Select flowers from the Kuai pa for the best taste
