1. Pound together chili paste ingredients until pulverized.
2. Bring water to a boil and stir in chili paste.
3. Add ribs and cook until tender.
4. Add banana flowers. Cook until flowers are tender.
5. Add tomatoes betel leaves and acacia insuvais. Stir and cook until tender. Remove from heat.

 | Soak sliced banana flowers in tamarind or lime juice to avoid discoloring. Or wait until the water is boiling then pound the banana flowers and put the tender pieces in the water immediately. Do not cook too long after adding acacia insuvais. This will make it stay green and give it a good taste. | |

 | Flowers of the kluai pa, or plantain banana or sapientum (kluai namwa) are the best. Thorny acacia insuvais tastes better than the thornless variety. | |
