            The khanun is an auspicious name so the soup made from it is popular at weddings and New Year’s to ensure prosperity and success. Some recipes call for galangal, lemon grass and lemonella or interruptum (Rattana Phromphichai, 1999, p. 482; Prathum Unsi, personal communication, June 25, 2007)
 
Ingredients
1. Green Jack fruit300 Gm.
2. Chopped Pork ribs100 Gm.

4. Cha om (Acacia insuavis)1/2 Cup
5. Chopped Pepper vine1/2 0

1. Dried Chili spur pepper5 0
2. Garlic5 Cloves
3. Shallots5 0
4. Shrimp paste1 Tsp.

1. Pound together the chili paste ingredients to make a fine paste.
2. Stir chili paste into boiling.
3. Add pork ribs and cook until tender.
4. Add jackfruit and cook until jackfruit is tender.
5. Add tomatoes, acacia insuvais and basil leaves. Stir and remove from heat.
 
Tips
Do not close the lid after removing from heat. Wait until it cools down so that the greens will not overcook and spoil the soup taste.
Tips
Select green jackfruit whose seeds are tender and the meat is not too soft.
