This kind of chili dish is rather thick. Roasted fresh chilies are recommended. The crickets can be roasted too instead of boiling them. Variations can be endless if you substitute the larvae of wasp, bee, beetle (from bamboo tubes) or the eggs from red ant, or any other kind of edible insects and beetles. Then the chili sauce will be named accordingly. (Sumali Thabun, personal communication, June 27, 2007)
