Water morning glory

            Phak bung Thai (Central), phak bung (Gerenal), phak thot yot (Bangkok), phak bung daeng, phak bung na, kam chon (Shan-Mae Hong Son), hon do (Karen-Mae Hong Son). (Kanchana Diwiset, et al., compilers, 1999 , p. 137)
 
            Herbaceous plant, floating or creeping, found in wet areas such as swamps or canals, stem hollow, rooting at the nodes, red or white. Leaves are simple, alternate, triangular-acuminate, saggitateor sometimes linear, glabrous, 3-10 cm. long, 1-9 cm wide. Inflourescence axillary with 1-5 bell-shaped flowers, white or purplish, capsule globose; seeds round and black. (Kanchana Diwiset, et al. compilers, 1999, p. 137)
 
        
            Red variety: 100 gm. gives 15 kilo-calories; 99.4 gm. water, 1.9 gm. carbohydrates, 1.5 gm. protein, 0.2 gm fat, 0.8 gm residue, 2 mg. calcium, 14 mg. phosphorus, 2.6 mg. iron, 5,834 IU Vitamin A, 10.5 mg. Vitamin B1, 0.3 mg. Vitamin B2, 0.44 mg. niacin, 14 mg. Vitamin C. White Variety: 100 gm. gives 22 kilo-calories, 92.6 gm water, 1.9 gm carbohydrates, 1.5 gm. protein, 0.2 gm. fat, 1.1 gm. residue, 3 mg. calcium, 22 mg. phosphorus, 3 mg. iron, 11,447 IU Vitamin A, 0.03 mg.
