            Ti yo, phai ruak, mai ruak, ruak (Central), huak (Northern) Wae pong (Karen-Mae Hong Son ), wae bang (Karen-Chiang Mai), salom (Shan-Mae Hong Son)
 
            Grows in clusters, 7-15 m. high, with slender tips; Stalk 2-6cm. in diameter, smooth with white nodes and green sheaths, 15-30 cm. long cylinders, thick and almost solid. Short stalk 22-28 cm. long, 11-20cm. wide, straw-colored, covered with soft, white hair gradually narrows upward with a tiny almost invisible triangular scale. Leaves linear – lanceolate, rough and sharp with short petiole of 2 mm. long.
 
        
            Carbohydrates, fiber, calcium phosphorus, iron, Vitamins B1 and B2
        
Leaves stimulate urination and purifies menstruation, relieves inflammation of the uterus. Buds relieve heartburn and thirst. Roots stimulates urination and improves kidney problems.
