The Railway Hotel was to the opposite of the Railway Station understood to be the first Hotel in Chiang Mai. Its early stage was a one story wooden building facing the Railway Station. In 1926, King Rama VII travelled to Chiang Mai and observed the welcoming elephant parade from the front portico of the hotel. The hotel has now closed its operation.
