As the Buddhist Lent or rainy season retreat approached in 1966, Chiang Mai University requested a royal Krathin to be dedicated to the royal temple under royal patronage in Chiang Mai as had been done annually. That year, it was dedicated to the Chedi Luang Temple in Mueang District Chiang Mai Province.
Around 3.30 p.m. of November 7, 1966, the royal krathin dedication ceremony was performed led by H. E. Sunthon Hongladarom, the President of Chiang Mai University along with the Vice President, faculty members as well as students together with representatives of various government agencies and the general public.
All the contributions received on this occasion totaled 18,242.50 Baht as classified below:
