Chiang Mai University preformed the Royal Kathin Dedication (offering of yellow robes during the Buddhist Lent) at Phra That Sichomtong Temple, Chomthong District in Chiang Mai on November 14, 1964. The ceremony schedule was as follows:
November 12, 1964: The Royal Kathin Dedication was set up along with all the decorations and other necessities of the Buddhist monks and flags as the custom called for at Salatham on Chiang Mai University campus.
Novemver 13, 1964: At 2.00 p.m. the procession moved along Huay Kaeo Road, Maninopharat Road and some other roads in the city where it stopped at certain points to perform traditional dancing (fon) for the public and to receive contributions from the passersby before returning to the campus around 5.00 p.m.
In the evening, the celebration of the Kathin began at 6.30 p.m. with five monks chanting the prayer followed by all kinds of performances and entertainment such as music, a variety show, a movie, etc.
November 14, 1964: at 12.30 the Kathin was taken to Sichomthong Temple. A few stops were made at Chiang Mai City Gate, in front of the Hang Dong District Office and San Patong Market to perform some traditional dances and accept contributions. When the procession reached Sichomthong village the temple arranged for some dancers to dance in a welcoming manner and the Kathin was taken and presented at the Temple.
