The rite was held annually in the waxing moon period of the eighth lunar month or on Visak (Visakha puja) Day (in the 6th month). The King would kindly send the sacrifice offerings of candles, incense sticks, gold and silver, flowers and blanket cloth to pay respect to the Buddha. People of Lamphun and other parts of Lanna always participate in the rite in multitudes.
