Their Majesties the King and Queen presided over the opening ceremony of the Medical Building and the Chaoratchabut Wongtawan Na Chiang Mai Building at Nakhon Chiang Mai Hospital on January 26, 1970
On January 24, 1970, Their Majesties the King and Queen presided over the opening ceremony of two buildings, the Medical Building and the Chaoratchabut Wongtawan Na Chiang Mai Building, at Nakhon Chiang Mai Hospital of the Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University. Their Majesties were received by Field Marshall Thanom Kittikhachon along with the executives of Chiang Mai. Their Majesties had a conversation with Dr.Charles E. Richards, the academic advisor from USOM. After the ceremony, Their Majesties went to preside over the 4th Degree Conferral or Graduation Ceremony of Chiang Mai University.
The Medical Building is a seven-story building that took three and a half years to complete at a construction cost of 107,000,000 Baht, including the equipment for studying and treatment; half of which was from the support of USOM.
The Chaoratchabut Wongtawan Building is a one-story building to be used for cancer related radiation treatment. It was built from the donation of 500,000 Baht, donated by Maj. Gen. Chaoratchabut as part of the dedication to the Royal Consort of King Rama V, Chao Dara Rassami, Maj. Gen. Chaokaeonawarat and Maechao Chammari.
