In the old picture the intersection was where the roof of the Si Don Chai Temple could be seen and the upper part of the photo was the Suriwong Hotel where trees were abundant. The present view shows many more tall buildings. The yellow building in the back is the Le Meridien Chiang Mai which is next to the Suriwong Hotel. The white building opposite Wat Si Don Chai is the Panthip Plaza and the building on the right is the former Saeng Tawan Cinema.
