   Teenage girls on Songkran Day carrying silver water bowls.

Boonserm Satrabhaya
   The parade and dancers in the Songkran Festival, Chiang Mai, at the Thapae Gate intersection (the present Thapae plaza). The coconut trees in the picture have been replaced by the Montri Hotel. On the far lefts is Rachadamnoen Road. Taken on April 13, 1954.

Boonserm Satrabhaya
   The procession of the Setankhamani Buddha image, Phya Mangrai’s guardian, along Tha Pae Road to be placed at the Burmese temple of Wat Uppakhut for people to sprinkle holy water on during the Songkran Festival. The Burmese temple was later demolished and replaced by the Buddha Sathan Chiang Mai, 1953.

   The teenage girls are digging sand from the Ping River at the east bank of Nawarat Bridge to make sand pagodas at temples for alms offering on Songkran Day, 1950.
