The old police uniform with the four large pockets on the shirt was discontinued around 1952. The building was constructed in 1915 and was used for 56 years before it was replaced by a new one made of concrete.
October 13 each year is celebrated as Police Day by the National Police Office. On this occasion some photographs of the police officers of Lamphun in the past and their stories would be shared. The Provincial Police of Lamphun was initiated in 1857 if not earlier as it was mentioned in the report of the city in 1900 as follows:
In the old times there was a provincial police corps situated in the city of Lamphun headed by Chao Ratchabut with 2 police Lance Corporals and 12 Police Constables. It was granted the royal advice that Lamphun at that time had few criminals and most were charged with such offences as stabbing and shooting people. The same situation happened in the remote villages because the police corps were quite new and were not yet recognized or made widely known.
Moreover, the criminals were not intimidated as some of them easily managed to escape. In fact they were set up in the village in November 1900 and were not yet keen on administrative regulations. I felt that by 1901, or in the future when the villagers and their leaders understood the regulation and administration, the crimes would decrease.
