Mr. Tim Chotana was the son of Mr. Po and Mrs. Tod Chotana the progenitors of the Chotana family. He graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Chulalongkorn University. After his graduation he got a position at the Department of Highways. He held the position of Special Government Officer of the Ministry of Transport in the position of Highway Technician, Northern Highway District in charge of the Chiang Mai-Fang Highway Development Project. His hard work and effort in serving the government was honored by naming the road Chotana Road as a memorial to Mr. Tim Chotana and his family.
Mr. Tim was known for his kindness and work for the Chiang Mai urban society. He donated 10 rai of land to the Government to expand the area in front of the Wattano Thai Payap School and another 2 rai to the Chulalongkorn University Alumni Association to build their office near Wattano Thai Payap School and about 100 wa of land near the Klang Wiang Intersection to the province to build the Statue of Phya Mangrai. Later the statue was moved and the land Mr. Tim donated was the site for the shrine of the city pillar.
Mr. Tim Chotana resigned in 1964 and entered the local politics and was elected Mayor of Chiang Mai three times; in 1968, 1970 and 1971. He passed away in 1974.
