The wihan is to the west of the Haripunchai Chedi. It enshrined the standing Buddha image with the right hand resting on the left on and turned upward. The image was made in just one day so it is named Thanchai, meaning quick or fast as ones heart desires. Lanna people believe that paying respect to the image would gain them everything they wish instantaneously. The wihan is used for the merit making of bathing the chedi and for Buddhist devotees to spend the night to observe the precepts on the Sabbath during the Buddhist Rainy Season Lent period. It was restored in 1945 and was converted into the Central Thai style of architecture.
